The house has underfloor heating pipes installed as well as solar water heating. Electric and water are all modern, up to code and ready to accept any additional installations. The house is situated at the top of Agios Spiridon which has a cafe, churches and even a museum even though it only has about 50 inhabitants. The village sits almost midway between the north, south and east coasts and commands an inspiring view of the Mediterranean sea and the mountains. Close by are the ancient ruins of Praisos within easy walking distance and there are in fact many places of interest within walking distance. The house is only 20 mins from the lovely town of Sitia and its wonderful harbour area with its waterside cafes and beach. To the south, the beautiful sandy beaches and seaside cafes and restaurants of Makrygialos are only about 25 mins away. To the east is the palm forested Vai beach and expansive sands of Xerocambos beach. All around the area are Minoan, Roman and Venetian ruins all sitting in the Sitia Geopark (http://www.sitia-geopark.gr/en/) which basically encompasses the East Crete area. Crete is the largest Greek island and the 5th largest in the Mediterranean. East Crete is the jewel in Crete's crown as it is unspoilt, peaceful and friendly; a reminder of the more civilized  pace of life of generations ago and yet fully services by life's modern requirements. There is good mobile/data signal and even fibre-optic internet which is available in many of the remote villages including Agios Spiridon where the house is. In spite of being relatively unknown to most people, Sitia has its own international airport and a deepwater port where the inter-island ferries and occasional cruise ships dock.
